2012 2500 dodge mega cab. Truck is lifted need to use a hitch. What is recommended tongue weight based on different measurements? Basically will using a hitch affect the capacity of the unit.

For your 2012 Dodge Ram the Torklift Superhitch part # TLD1102-30 is a confirmed fit and would work well, but it does not have different capacities when used with a lifted truck. If the capacity of the vehicle is changed that would be between the company that made the lift and Dodge.

Maximum GTW when used with weight distribution: 30,000 lbs
Maximum tongue weight: 2,500 lbs
Maximum TW when used with weight distribution: 3,000 lbs

The current Torklift tie down part #TLD3101 that you have installed on your 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 only fits if you have the factory hitch. If you go with the SuperHitch part #TLD1100 you would need to change your rear tie down to the part #TLR3503.
