Can you recommend a tow hitch for a 2012 Mini Countryman S? I would use it for a hitch-mounted bike rack and possibly a lightweight tear camper trailer. thanks,

For your 2012 Mini Countryman S, I recommend the Curt Class I Hitch # C11333. This Class I hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will use existing holes in its frame for a no-drill installation. It will provide you with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening, a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. I also recommend checking your vehicle owner's manual for its specific capacities, as this will likely be the limiting factor. You will just need to follow whichever capacity is lower, the hitch or the vehicle's.

When looking for a bike rack, you will need to make sure you choose one that is compatible with Class I trailer hitches. Also keep in mind that the most bikes a Class I hitch can support with a bike rack is 2. I recommend taking a look at the Kuat Transfer 2 # KU74FR. This is an excellent platform-style rack that uses ratcheting hooks to secure your bikes by the wheels without any frame contact. Its easy-to-use foot pedal lets you tilt the rack back (with the bikes still loaded) for easy rear cargo access. You will also need to use the # 18050 when using an unsupported load like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

Since you said you might be doing some light towing, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. This hardwire kit will give you a 4-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle to connect with and power a trailer's signal lights.
