Replacement Hitch for 2011 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
I have a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 short box 4wd crew cab. I tow a 24 ft trailer with a weight distribution hitch 6000 lbs. This last year the pin through the receiver hitch rounded out the hole in the receiver hitch so I need to replace the hitch. I would like a replacement hitch that has a stronger 2 in square receiver to reduce/stop the problem of rounding out the hole. It does not seem that there is a difference in the 2 in receiver between the class 3 or 4 or 5. Is this a common problem and what hitch do you recommend?

The pin hole in a hitch can round out, and though it is not a common problem it is something that we have seen happen. In terms of the difference in hitches for your 2011 Chevy Silverado, the higher the class rating the more heavily constructed the hitch is. The Curt class V # C15323, for example, weighs 67 lbs while the class IV # 14301 weighs 53 lbs and the class III # 13322 weighs 31 lbs. That means the thickest material is going to be on the class V, but that may be overkill; I recommend going with the class IV # 14301 and being confident that it will last a long time. I've added a link to a video review of this hitch as well as links to reviews of each hitch on a '11 Silverado.
