How to Tell if a 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata has the Appearance Package to Install Curt # C11028
Question:
So how do I tell if I have this appearance pkg? If I dont is your hitch just a bolt on or is cutting/drilling required?

The Appearance Package would dress up the exterior of your 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata by giving you a front air dam, side skirts, and a rear under skirt (which it looks like you have).
If you do not have the Appearance Package then the Curt Class I Receiver Hitch # C11028 is a confirmed fit for your Miata. There is some modification required which is reflected in our installation notes:
Drilling required for installation
Fascia trimming required for installation
Exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation
We rate the installation of this trailer hitch as a 10 out of 10 and taking at least 1 hour and 40 minutes for someone who is comfortable working on vehicles. I have attached a video of this hitch being installed on a 2010 MX-5 that you can reference should you decide to do the install yourself. Otherwise any shop that has a good reputation should be able to install it for a fee.
Please note that per the Curt warranty a Support Strap # 18050 must be used with all non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier.
