Spare Tire Carrier and Jack Recommendations for a Load Rite Single Axle Boat Trailer

Question:

I have an old load rite single axle boat trailer which has 14 diameter wheels. Is there room to mount a spare time near the winch see photo ? Which bracket should I get? I need a new jack. When you give the retracted and extended trailer jack dimensions, where is that measured from? The bottom of the tongue to the ground? The tongue is 3 x 4. The current jack retracts so that there is 10inch from the bottom of the tongue to the ground and travels about 10inch up. Do you have any jacks that retract that low? There are times when I am on uneven ground. Unloaded the top of the ball of the current tow vehicle sits 19 3/4inch above the ground n but must a couple of inches with the weight of the trailer. Jack needs to be marine grade, the more lift range the better. Dual wheels would be great but it is not a big boat, see photo Any suggestions appreciated. Was going to purchase: Loadstar ST215/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire with 14inch Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C Item # AM3S560 And use an old tire/rim as a spare. Do yo sell the same tire without a rim if I want to reuse the old ones?

Yes, there does appear to be plenty of space to mount a spare tire carrier and spare on the tongue of your boat trailer. Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier - Fits 4- and 5-Lug Wheels Item # FSTC1000301 is a popular option. It will hold the tire out from the frame 4-1/2 inches so it will clear the winch stand.

On trailer jacks such as # FXPD15L the retracted/extended measurements are taking from the center of the jack mounting bracket to the bottom of the jack. So on the # FXPD15L it is 12-3/4 inches retracted, 24-3/4 inches extended from the center of its mounting bracket to the bottom of the wheels. This is a swivel jack so once the trailer is coupled to the ball and you raise the jack up you can then swivel it up so that it is parallel with the trailer frame.

For something even shorter I recommend Fulton F2 Swing-Up Trailer Jack 8" Wide-Track Wheel - Bolt On - 1,600 lbs Item # F1413140334. And you can get even lower than that using rack and gear jack # BD162300 but with it the tongue weight of the trailer cannot exceed 750 pounds and it is not ideal for marine applications.

We do have the Loadstar ST215/75D14 Load Range C tire available by itself. It is # AM1ST90.
