Can a 2007 Honda CR-V Tow a 15 Foot Bass Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello I was looking at the trailer hitch for 2007 Honda Crv. With the bolt system would it be rated to pull 15ft bass boat? The only reason i ask is because in the info it says not for weight distribution, so didnt know if it was just for bike racks and baskets and ect Thanks

A weight distribution system is a device that is installed on a trailer and uses leverage to transfer the weight of the load across the entire towing setup. It's in addition to a trailer hitch and is optional for towing, although sometimes highly recommended. The trailer hitch receivers designed for your 2007 Honda CR-V are not rated with a weight distribution system, therefore you don't have the option of using one. But you can still tow a trailer.

I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75547 Class III trailer hitch receiver for your Honda. It has the highest weight capacity among your options. I've linked an install video for you.

Whether you can tow your boat trailer or not depends on its weight. From my research a 2007 CR-V has a max towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. So everything towed including the boat, gear, and the trailer itself must not weigh over 1,500 pounds. Although, you should verify with your printed owner's manual to make sure this is accurate.

If you determine your Honda can tow the trailer you'll also need trailer wiring, a ball mount and a hitch ball.

To power the trailer's lights it likely has a 4-way connector. Use # 118427 for a wiring harness on your CR-V. It plugs directly into the vehicle's wiring behind a trim panel in the rear cargo area on the driver's side. I linked this install video as well.

You'll also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I've attached a link of our selection of ball mounts for a 2 inch hitch receiver as well as an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop you may need. Once you choose a ball mount you can then choose a hitch ball to fit it.

I've also included links to some articles on towing that you might find helpful.
