Can Reese SC Weight Distribution System be Used with Pole Tongue Adapter on Boat Trailer
Question:
Question re Item # RP66153 Reese SC Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW It says in the specs that the max trailer frame width is 2.5inch Is this still true if used for a boat trailer w the pole tongue adapter see * below is employed? With this configuration using a pole tongue adapter, Im presuming the hangers are attached only to the pole tongue adapter? Also, how do I measure ACTUAL TW? Im having a trailer set up for a boat, and not sure what the TW will be....where would one go to have TW measured? *Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW Item # EQ95-01-5950

You can use the Reese SC Weight Distribution System part # RP66153 with a boat trailer is you use a pole tongue adapter like the part # RP58393. In this situation the frame width restriction you mentioned isn't exactly applicable since that is referring to when installing the frame hangers of the # RP66153.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
