Is Insulation on Power Wire for Trailer Wiring Wearing Off a Concern
Question:
I am concerned that vibration will eventually wear through the power wire insulation and drain my battery potentially leaving me stranded somewhere. Is this not a real concern? Is there an alternative to running the wire under the car? Cant I connect to the 12V outlet in the cargo area?

I understand your concern and I don't want to just dismiss it, but the situation you described is not going to happen if you install the Trailer Wiring # 118480. If properly route the power wire of this would not wear through. And if that did happen the short it would create wouldn't drain the battery. Basically it would just blow the inline fuse that comes with the kit and the wiring would be inoperable.
I attached a help article on how to route the power wire of kits like this for you to check out as well.
