Dual Receiver Adapter for Use with Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar BX7380 and Hitch Bike Rack

Question:

We just bought a 1995 Bounder 34 Class A motor coach and want to tow our 1995 Jeep Wrangler with a Blue Ox Alpha tow bar attached to a new front bumper Ive ordered with D rings or your bolt on adapters. I would like to know if the tow bar should/must be level from the coach to the Jeep or if any angle is allowed and how much. I need this so I can determine what and which double receiver I will need to tow the Jeep and have a kayak rack and/or bicycle too. Thank you! Also, When buying locking hitch pins, can 5 or 6 be bought that all use the same key? Thank you!

Any tow bar, such as the excellent Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380, used to flat tow a vehicle like your 1995 Wrangler should be level or nearly so in order to operate best. Tow bars can be up to 3-inches higher or lower than dead-level on either end, strictly speaking, but they all will work better (less binding of the telescoping arms) when they are level.

We offer high-low hitch adapters like # RM-076 and # BX88132, shown on the linked page and reviewed in detail in the linked article, that allow you to keep your tow bar level. But since you also want to use a hitch-mount bike carrier you can use a dual-receiver adapter such as the Roadmaster # RM-077-4 (4-inches rise or drop) or # RM-077-2 (2-1/4-inches rise or drop).

Be sure that your bike rack is rated for use on the back of a motorhome. Not all hitch racks are rated for this application so I linked our page for RV-approved hitch racks such as the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR 2-bike platform style carrier.
