Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2016 Chevy Express Van
Question:
I have a 2016 Chevy Express 3500. I was told the wiring is there for a trailer, but I dont see any. Can you direct me where to look? My van didnt come with the tow package, as I was told the only difference was the hitch which I purchased from you. Thanks

If your 2016 Chevrolet Express Van 3500 does not have the factory tow package, there will not be a trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle.
In order to install a 4-Way connector, you will just need to use the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118392. This T-One connector will plug directly into built-in ports that are located behind the trim panels in the cargo area on both the driver and passenger side. I have attached an installation video on your 2016 Chevy Express Van that you can use for reference.
If you are needing to install a fully functional 7-Way to use with a trailer that has electric brakes, you will need to also install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit will include everything necessary to install a 7-way from the above 4-way connector, along with a trailer brake controller like the excellent Prodigy P2 # 90885. I have attached an article that details the installation steps for this particular wiring kit that you might find helpful.
