How to Activate Trailer 12V Power Feed on Factory 7-Way in 2016 Silverado
Question:
I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado that came with a factory 7 Way plug. I can not get power to my camper. In my 2014 I had to hook up a wire under the hood but for the life of me I can not find that in the 2016. Do you know where I might find the cord or something else to give my camper power while hooded up?

Some trucks do need an under-the-hood connection of wiring to activate the 12V trailer power feed and the trailer brake controller power input feed. This process is outlined and illustrated in the linked article, in the section titled "Finalizing Connections for the Brake Controller".
The ring terminal for the 12-volt power lead for the 7-way trailer connector is located to the left of the power distribution box. It is taped to a wire harness under the power brake booster. Cut the tape to release it from the harness. Then run the wire to the front of the power distribution box and hook the ring on the right post (M8 stud).

It was the fuse. I had an electrical problem with my trailer last summer and never checked the fuse. Thanks! you saved me a trip to the Stealer.

Im trying to get 12 volts to the 7 pin connector on my 2017 GMC Sierra 3500. I dont see any wires taped near the brake controller. Did they change something on the 2017s?
