Will Heavy Subwoofer Bass Affect the Operation of Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controller

Question:

As the subject suggests, I am interested in switching to a proportional setup but cant find any information regarding heavy subwoofer base skewing or damaging the movement sensing of the unit. Is this possible?

A proportional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, will use an inertia sensor to activate the trailer brakes. It senses deceleration and generates an output that is based on deceleration, thus the term proportional braking. In the instructions for the Prodigy P2 brake controller it mentions to NOT mount or activate RF generating items (cell phones, two way radios) near (less than 12 inches) the brake controller. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.

If the subwoofer bass will cause the Prodigy P2 brake controller to physically move or vibrate, then it could affect the operation of the Prodigy P2 brake controller. If you think that your bass would move your brake controller I would recommend to use a time-delayed brake controller like the Tekonsha PowerTrac Brake Controller, part # 39523. This time-delayed brake controller applies the trailer brakes electronically as soon as the brake pedal is pressed. It does not use any kind of inertia sensor, so it would not be affected by the heavy subwoofer bass.

I am including a link to the instructions on the Draw-Tite brake controller.
