The information you received from Goal Zero is correct, though the explanation was lacking. I spoke with someone at Goal Zero and then I took a look at each of the items to verify what I was told. The 30' Cable for Goal Zero Boulder 200, Nomad 200, and Ranger 300 Solar Panels - HPP to HPP, part # GZ42VR, is technically a 14 AWG wire.
