The Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch receiver, # 24796, is one of the more labor intensive installations for a trailer hitch on the 2014 Nissan Altima. The installation of the this hitch is rated a 9 out of 10 difficulty with an average install time at around 1-1/2 hours.
The difficulty is the installation has to doe with the removal the mufflers, disassembly of the trunk interior, and the drilling of four holes to mount the hitch to the vehicle.
If you think this might be too difficult for you, then I recommend checking out a trunk mounted rack for your 2014 Nissan Altima. The attached link lists all the trunk mounted bike racks that are confirmed to fit your vehicle. The racks listed will coupe, sedan, or both body styles of the Nissan Altima.
For a rack that fits the sedan model, I recommend the Malone Hanger 3-Bike Rack, # MPG2139. This rack can carry up to 3 bikes at 33 lbs per bike. The rack includes soft mounting cradles that will use rubber straps and anti-sway to keep your bikes from contacting with each other.
For a rack the is confirmed to fit the coupe model, I recommend the Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier, # SA801BL. This rack can carry up to 3 bikes at 35 lbs per bike. The Saris Bones uses articulated rubber feet and vinyl-coated hooks to protect the finish of your vehicle. This rack also will include anti-sway straps to keep the bikes from making contact with each other.
