How to Deterine if 2000 Dodge Durango Has Factory Tow Package
Question:
Hi, I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 L, but I don´t know if it has the tow package, how can I know?, so I dont´t know if it´s pre-wired or not...., can you help me on this? is there a special plug under the dash that I have to found?. I have bought a Hayes syncronizer brake controller to put on, thank you very much!

If your vehicle has a factory installed 7 way connector on the rear bumper, then you have the tow package. The spring loaded cover on the 7-way should say Mopar on it. Under the dash, in the driver's side footwell, behind the emergency brake, there should be a black junction box bolted to the firewall. There should be a connector clipped to the top of this box that the # 3020-P brake controller wiring adapter would plug into.
If you do not have the factory 7-way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle, you do not have the tow package, and would need to hardwire the brake controller using our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. You'd also need a functional 4-pole trailer connector like part # 118334.
I've linked you to an FAQ article that fully explains how to use the install kit, as well as some other FAQ articles that I hope you'll find helpful.
