Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed either in the jack storage compartment of your rear cargo area or beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure if you are mounting it near the hitch.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Perfect fit and great instructions, I'm fairly mechanical and do most of my own work and with that being said, if you have the correct tools and basic knowledge and the ability to follow instructions, this is a easy project, both the wiring harness and the draw bar installation. I've bought from etrailer in the past and will continue to shop there first for my trailering needs.

by:

Etrailer always has what I need! The right parts, exact fit, and EASY!

by:

The design flaw with all harnesses is that the trailer connector is to large to fit through your automotive holes leading to the outside. An additional quick disconnect plug would solve this issue.

by:

This has to be the easiest way to set up lights when using a trailer. will recommend to everyone!

Very easy to install took me maybe 15 mins!! Took tail lights off unplugged light & plugged in the harness and put tail lights back on... that simple.....Thanks

When I bought this item from I thought like others I have use I wouldn't last. But it have worked for for the last yr and I don't think it will go bad for some time. Insulation was as easy as could basically plug and and zip tie wires and u ready.very satisfied with this product great job guys thx

2001 Dodge Durango

After a year of medium use, this is holding up very well. Seems flimsy (my bumper), but am very happy that I was wrong with my fears on this product with my vehicle type. 2001 Dodge Durango. It is doing a splendid job.

I have used this extensively over the last year pulling a trailer to go camping with the scouts, and working on rental properties. Works every time, and installation was a breeze! This is the second one I purchased, the first was for my 01 Jeep Cherokee. I liked it so much that when I bought a Durango I didn't even consider any other company to work with. I don't have time to mess with wiring. I have the skills to solder and diy, but I always seem to need it right before a long trip. This was plug and play, no fuss, and go! I had a car wreck a few months before, and was still able to install it by myself with a brain injury. I couldn't watch the install video either since it would hurt my eyes. Would make a nice father son project ?? I like how the plug has a cover and plenty of length. I like to roll it up and store it in the under floor compartment when not in use to keep it out of the weather. It solved my issue of not having a towing system wiring harness. I bought a nice hitch from the Junkyard, but the lights were more important, so I made sure the wiring was 100%. I spent as much on the hirch as I did the lights! Even a a guy like me that drives a 20 year old suv, and buys parts at the junkyard, that a new trailer wiring harness from etrailer, is a smart decision.

2002 Dodge Durango

Really excellent product. Although it comes with detailed instructions, they are hardly needed. The converter (to adapt from car-style to trailer-style turn signal/brake light actuation) is built into the harness, and comes with double faced tape to mount it to a clean surface. Everything just plugs into the car's connectors. No splicing, soldering, funky wire taps, etc.

by:
2001 Dodge Durango

It was everything I had hoped for. Everything worked as designed. No splicing into wiring. Just remove tail- lights, unplug connector, plug in wiring harness and plug factory wiring connector back in. All add-on harnesses should be like it. Total installation time 20 minutes

Working perfect. As designed. My vehicle came w/factory wiring and burnt [built] in power module underhood. So this bypassed it and saved me a load of money. Great decision s ing. Plugs right in. Amazing.

2000 Chrysler Town and Country

I was readying my Town and Country Mini Van for a move to Washington State and need a trailer wiring harness. It really is unreal how eawsy this was to install. The hardest part was putting the modling back together. Instructions were to the point and very easy to understand. We have planned the trip for next week so I can not give a review on performance as of yet. I give this product a 5 out of 5 stars. I'm Happy!!!

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

This was the easiest wiring I have ever done. Sure I could have saved myself some money by trying to find the correct wiring and then splicing in to it. But this kit was so quick and easy, and worked so perfectly that it was well worth the money spent. Watching the installation video helped to make my install a breeze. There is plenty of length to the wiring provided. GREAT PRODUCT!

Product is Plug and Play . Parts fit together perfectly . I only needed a screwdriver and 10 minutes . If written instructions do not agree with you then the video provided by etrailer is perfect . I will look to them in the future for my hauling needs . 02 Dodge Durango without factory towing .

It works flawlessly . I actually bought another for my 06 Jeep Liberty . Thank you for the follow up .

This product out lasted my ownership of the vehicle I installed it on. It couldn't have been easier to install. The videos provided by etrailer.com make it simple and lets me buy with confidences. I already installed a new hitch and wiring harness on my new van. I almost purchased a slightly cheaper hitch from someplace else but I just wasn't confident it would work as well as etrailer.com. etrailer.com will continue to get my buisness becasue I am confident what they send will work for my vehicle and their videos walk me through how to install it.

by:

After looking around at local auto parts stores and even a trailer supply store and not finding the exact part I needed, I was pleased to see that it was available at etrailer.com (and priced quite favorably) The part was delivered on time and in good order. The instructions available at the website (and included with the part) were complete and concise. Why would anybody buy any where else?

Sincerely,

Darrell Schmidt

1998 Plymouth Voyager

Product was A-#1. no issues what-so-ever. The problem (as others have said) was the routing of the harness itself. So its more with the manufacturer of the vehicle. That said I had to cut and splice a few times to snake it through holes and lengthen the hitch wire a couple feet to make it fit... but it works.

6/20/2019

Awesome. Fit was great, has been working great after a year. Awesome product. NO issues!

by:

Worked as promised, came quickly and was a breeze to install. Would recommend to anyone

by:

It fits as stated . I had a little bit of a hard time separating every thing to fit . but I did it and it works . I do have a problem once in a while only tail lights or nothing at all I keep the plug cover on 24/7 when not in use . Works good when every thing works in the tail lights turn signals and brake lights along with trailer marker lights . But being on a 20 year old SUV I guess there will be problems with age . Have not had a problem with the wiring box over heating or shorting out.

1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

This unit went on a 96 Grand Caravan. As such the related Durango installation videos were of little help. Different animals. Figured out how to pull it off none the less. Read 3 times, the paper instructions were of some use. Not a hard deal but might be daunting to a car newbie figuring out how to R&R interior molding and panels.

Contrary to instructions, it is possible to route the plug outside the vehicle through an access hole in the floor, down around the donut tire to the hitch. Takes a slight modification to the hole followed by replacing the rubber plug followed by some sealer.
I prefer this route instead of risking broken wires hanging out under the rear hatch.
I would like to see the mfg add about 6-12" length to that section of wiring to make it just a touch easier to route to the outside if desired.

by:

I guess it was fate that I saw etrailer.com on Facebook. At The I was looking at these but from other companies. It was the same item but for double or more the price (hope I didn't just cause a price increase). This is a great item at a great price. Can't wait to do business with them again.

I still love the product and still working perfectly. Thank you again for making it such an easy job to do.

by:

The trailer flat wire is to short. I will have to get a extension to get to the trailer. The DRIVERS side easy as pie was able to do in 15 minuets it just like the instructions stated. The passengers side is a different story. The instructions were VERY Vague no help and it took 2 hours to get it installed. The lights on the van work. I will have to Waite to test the trailer lights because the flat wire is to short.

2003 Dodge Durango

The product in itself is A+ but. routing the wiring is really confusing instruction wise. All the wiring components can be placed out in the jack well with the short dual plug and module on the drivers side. The tail gate trim removed and the side panel pried out and blocked with a piece of wood. On the inside of the wheel well you can route the cable through a square patch of rubber material. You have to get to this rubber material when you remove the tail light and remove the louvered panel. Once that panel is removed you can see and feel that rubber patch. Take a knife and cut through that patch big enough to feed the dual wiring connectors through. At this point your right hand will be feeding the cable under the pushed out panel and picked up by your left hand through the removed louvered panel. Remove the rubber plug and cut the plug down to the vehicle wiring. Route the new wiring through the rubber plug and push plug back into position. Unlock tail light connector and plug in new "Y" connector. With a little common sense you can take care of small details that are left. Repeat on right side. It helps to have small hands to get on the inside of the left and right trim panels. The trailer wiring, coming from the module can be routed through the spare tire access hole. You can cut a small slit in the rubber plug to make room for the cable to the under outside of the vehicle to the trailer! Hope this helps. I almost forgot the module has a removable paper mounting area on the back. You can remove the paper and stick the module on the inside of the wheel well. If you have large hands just leave it in place. Its no going any ware

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2001 Dodge Durango
If your 2001 Dodge Durango does not have a 7-Way connector located at the rear of the vehicle, then it is not equipped with the factory tow package. This connector should be fairly visible and the spring-loaded cover will have "Mopar" printed on it. The tow package would have most likely also included a trailer hitch, so if you needed to install one, this is another indication that the vehicle does not have the factory tow package. To be absolutely sure, you can always visit your local...

The converter combines the signals for the directional signals and brake lights onto the same circuit. This is the same system that your trailer lights use. Simply tapping a 4-pole into your existing vehicle wiring will not work. You will need the T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118334. • Difficulty Removing Tail Light Wiring Connectors to Install Trailer Wiring Harness on 2001 Durango
