Differences between Curt Hitches for 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen TDI
Question:
Hi, Ive got a 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen TDI SEL trim which Id like to put a hitch on. On an earlier Sportwagen I used your CURT 11072 Class 1 hitch and this worked well except that Id occasionally have this hitch hit the ground when pulling out of my driveway due to the dip in road at the gutter. I assume for my 2015 Golf Sportwagen Ill have better clearance two concealed tube models than on the exposed tube one. Is this correct? If so, how much better? The installation for the concealed tube models is somewhat off-putting due to the amount of work in removing the rear bumper. I didnt check to see how different the installation of the visible tube mode is, though your page indicated this was a 7 installation difficulty vs. the 10 for the other model. Does the exposed tube model still require pulling the rear bumper? Also, my trim includes the Driver Assist package which has sensors in the rear bumper. Does this package add any complexity in removing the rear bumper? Thanks,

There are two Curt hitches which are a fit for your 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen TDI. We have the Curt part # C11422 that you referenced which has a concealed crosstube which is going to give you better ground clearance since only the hitch opening hangs down. Then we have the part # C11411 which has a visible crosstube that will give you less ground clearance but it will be a bit easier to install.
The # C11411 does not require removing the rear bumper to install. It does require removing and trimming the heat shield as well as the plastic underbody panel though.
The rear sensors would not be an issue for either hitch.
