Perfect for light-duty towing, this custom, vehicle trailer hitch receiver features fully welded, gloss powder coated steel construction. Drawbar sold separately.Service from etrailer was great but Curtis hitch needs to improve their design. The VW Golf wagon I installed this on requires you to fish the mounting carriage bolts thru the frame. Curtis provides "spacers" with the bolts. The spacers get fished thru with the bolts and are suppose to help secure the hitch to the bumper and supposedly hold the head of the bolt while tightening the nut. The spacers that are used on the vertical mounting are not long enough to hold the bolt from turning and it's impossible to tighten the bolt. The horizontal mounting bolts tighten fine since the horizontal plane of the frame is narrower which keeps the "spacers" from spinning. Screen shot of the spacers and other included parts attached.
I've purchased this trailer hitch and installed it on my VW Sportwagen about a year ago. The cardboard packaging in which it was delivered had received some serious punishment, presumably en route, but the hitch itself was in good order and all the hardware & paperwork was still there. Installation required reasonable D.I.Y. effort, the only hold-up being that the instructions gave the wrong positioning for cutting a square hole in the heat shield for one of the mounting points (probably due to the car being a new model, so this has probably been fixed by now).
Overall it is a good quality product at a good price, so I would recommend it.
The fit is perfect. I did have a little trouble with the heat shield. I had to trim it on the car. I had to trim/shave some under coating to fit the hitch but that wasn't the hitches fault. The hitch tucks up nicely. I'm very pleased with it.
Have towed an Aluma trailer about 10,000 miles in the past year. Hitch has performed perfectly.

Works perfectly. The hitch
The instructions are not correct for the muffler shield cutting pattern. You do not need to cut the shield as the tab side of the mount goes around the shield. The length between the tabs on the right and left are off by 1/2" which makes the mounting extremely difficult or nearly impossible.

Was you able to mount the hitch with the 1/2 dimensional problem? Thanks

Yes, but it took substantial effort to squeeze it into place. We used a hydraulic to assist in pushing the hitch onto the frame since the with between the tabs were slightly too narrow by 1/2 inch. I have installed another hitch on a 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDI, the Hidden Hitch 60632 which does fit great but you do need to modify the plastic trim below the bumper to fit. I like the design of the Curt 11411 better than the Hidden Hitch because it does not require the lower fascia modification. However, the Curt install was almost impossible.
The trailer hitch went on my 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen fairly easily as described in the directions with one exception.
There was an error as to where to cut the heat shield. I carefully cut the hole as described in the directions and when I went to reinstall it I could immediately see it was incorrect.
This would have been the correct hole location if the hitch had attached to the inboard side of the frame rail. This hitch goes over the exhaust and attaches to the outboard side of the frame rail.
This requires only a small slit be cut in the heat shield for an ear of the hitch to pass through. the attached photo shows the large square hole described in the directions and the small slit I made which was the only cut necessary.
The installer of the hitch -which was hard to find because of the new model car I had just bought, but quickly available at etrailer.com- was most complimentary of the design and sturdiness of the product.
I am very pleased with the product, and how quickly I received it,
Product was complete, and fit perfectly.
2 things -
The cut pattern for the heat shield was for an inside mount rather than an outside mount tab.
This is a 2 person job, unless there are at least a couple of jacks. My motorcycle jack stand was invaluable; otherwise I could not have done this by myself.
Easy to install. I wish that they had a 2" version so that i wouldn't need an adapter for my rack. Super fast shipping and excellent communication. Great vendor!
Great product!!!
Great pricing and fast service. Great help on the phone when you are not sure what you really need to get the job done.

All is well. After putting hitch on and checking bolts a few times I have used my hitch with bike rack almost every day.
