Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2006 Honda Accord

Question:

Do you make a hitch with a 2inch receiver for a 2006 Honda Accord? I only seem to be able to find 1.25inch Thank you very much

Unfortunately we only carry Class I Hitches with a 1-1/4" receiver for your 2006 Honda Accord Sedan. This is because your vehicle has a Gross Towing Weight Capacity of 1,000 lbs. and a Tongue Weight Capacity of 100 lbs.

The hitch I recommend for your 2006 Honda Accord Sedan is the Draw-Tite Class I Hitch # 24787. I recommend this hitch because you do not have to use stabilizing straps like you would with the Curt Hitches when carrying all non trailer loads, like bike racks. The GTW capacity for this hitch is 2,000 lbs. and the TW capacity is 200 lbs. However, you are limited by the towing capacity of your vehicle. This hitch uses an easy bolt-on process for installation, no welding or drilling is required.

However, if you are looking to use a 2" accessory, I recommend using the 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch Adapter # HTAD. This adapter will allow you to carry a 2" bike rack or cargo rack on the back of your vehicle. However, using this adapter does reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent but this would mean the hitch is now rated for 100 lbs. which is the tongue weight capacity for your vehicle anyway. If you do use the Class I Draw-Tite Hitch for a bike rack, you are limited to carrying two bikes do to the leverage capacity.

The Draw-Tite hitch utilizes your vehicle's weld nuts for installation. Many times these weld nuts are dirty and need cleaning. I attached a help article for how to clean your weld nuts for a smooth installation. I also attached an install video for the Draw-Tite Hitch on a 2006 Honda Accord you may want to check out.
