2007 Honda Accord

Great hitch. Not hard to install, if you have the right tools. I didn’t want to drop the muffler on my 2007 Honda Accord, so I used an extension to get the drill bit to one of the holes to widen it to allow the block and wire to pass. Also, the hitch moved slightly up and down when I was finished. I used a large washer in the main bolt to take up the 16th of an inch or so of space that had allowed it to move. I have used the hitch for a bike rack, a hitch hauler that has carried two push lawnmowers and frequently attach a 6x8 trailer loaded with a 46 inch riding lawn mower. Great product.

The hitch is working like the day I installed it. I’ve used it with a hitch hauler to transport push mowers, a 6x8 trailer and a bike rack. The hitch hasn’t shifted. I really like the way it hides under the rear bumper when you don’t have the drawbar installed. Great product.

Speedy Gonzales shipping, gracias!I received the box damaged fearing the hitch was also scratched up & damaged but thank goodness it was not. [online] wanted close to $XX more for this product that I got from etrailer thank you for $XXX. I installed on a 2006 Honda Accord EX 4-door V4, the shims or flat metal with was too large for the holes of the subframe which is stated in many forums being true - why CURT hasn't been corrected is beyond me!? I had to grind the side down on in order for it to slide in the hole of the subframe, I could not lower the muffler easily, so I had to work around it but was successful through trial and error & helps with smaller hands. The torque specs on the subframe is XX ft lb & at the hitch/receiver area was XXX ft lb, they tell you to use a 3/8 ratchet wrench but in order to get that foot pound rating you really need a 1/2"ratchet wrench. The subframe was 11/16 & the bolt over the muffler I had to use a regular wrench and torque it up the best I could to get to 70' lbs. The hardest part was the one above the muffler but everything worked as it should, lined up and torqued fine. I put white reflectors horizontally on the back of the hitch as a nice touch, the reflectors were left over from [online] purchase of a wood mailbox I had installed and never put on the white reflectors. Extremely happy with my purchase and instructions that etrailer provides. Will definitely be recommending etrailer to family friends and acquaintances. Sorry I did not include pictures of the final installation but everybody knows what a trailer hitch looks like

Excellent, all is well - thank you so much for an excellently manufactured product. Im rechecking the torque specs after a few tow for safety and thats the reason I returned to get the PDF file to confirm the torque ratings for verification &amp safety!

This is a great hitch to hook up accessories. I use it for a two bicycle Thule rack and it works perfectly. Can open and access trunk with two bikes attached. It was easy to install...except for re-hanging the rubber muffler mount. My advice...use silicone spray on the rubber mount and the muffler peg and it would've saved so much effort and time.

The hitch that you have sent me has been installed as of 1:30 this morning. The installation was very easy and quick. Thank you for the great service!

Fast shipping…Received in a couple of days. Packaged well. Straightforward install. I use this hitch as a mount for a platform-style bicycle rack on my 2007 Honda Accord. Love it…should have done this years ago.

2005 Honda Accord

I received the package from etrailer yesterday.
Everything
was packed well, in a single carton and undamaged.

I prepped this morning to install the hitch and wiring T harness on my 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid (V6, dual muffler, heat shields).

Not including prep (gathering tools, level spot etc) it took a little over 2 hours to complete. As expected (pointed out in videos) the metal bracket did not quite fit through the access hold in the frame.

I found it much easier to file down the bracket than to widen the hole in the frame.

Overall, very very happy.

I went a few hours later and purchased a 5X8 utility trailer and pulled it for about an hour on the highway and in traffic.

No issues.

Nice. I received an email this morning asking how I like the product after a year. No complaints at all, still works like a champ.

The receiver is well made and I expect it to last a long time. It fit our 2007 Honda Accord SE perfectly. We plan to use it to mount a bike rack and perhaps pull a small sailboat.
I had two issues with the installation that cost me some extra time.
1. The provided measurement from the fore-most hole in the heat shield to the center of the 5/8" hole for the receiver bolt was 4-1/2". The center of the hole in the frame for the mount bolt was actually at 4" back. Once we figured that out, we opened up the hole in the heat shield to the actual size of the frame hole, as this was going to be covered by the receiver anyway.
2. Only one fishing wire was provided with the receiver. Two would have made installation much easier. Working through the heat shield, I was concerned about shoving the bolts back into the frame. We worked around this by fishing and loosely mounting one side. Then we fished the bolt, reinstalled the heat shield, and mounted the second side. We kept the fishing wire on each bolt until it was through the receiver. This approach worked well.

I was able to install the hitch in my driveway using ramps, thanks to the available youtube video the install is very easy. The only issue I had was torquing the carriage bolt to 110 ft-lb. I ended up stopping over to my local Pep Boys and giving the mechanic 5 bucks to do it for me. Worked out great. The hitch itself is pretty nice, I have no complaints thus far, it's a hitch it does what a hitch is supposed to do.

This product should be discontinued as it has a clear design flaw in that there is no way to make it tight/secure with the vehicle without some form of customization or modification.

You mentioned that the hitch has a design flaw in that there is not a way to make it tight with the vehicle without some form of customization or modification. I wanted to see if you could send pictures of the location that you are referring to? I reached out to Curt and they wanted to see pictures as well as your VIN number.

2003 Honda Accord

I just finished installing this on my 2003 accord. It took much longer than necessary because the backing washer that is supposed to go in the frame didn't fit into the frame. I had to spend about a half hour grinding the edges down to get them to fit. These parts are clearly not sized properly for this application. In addition the frame bolts could be a few threads longer. It was very difficult to get the nut on without pushing them back into the frame.

In addition getting the pull wire off the first bolt is very difficult and almost ruined it. The really should be two of these provided. Then they could be left on until the heat shield is re installed.

Overall this is a poor set up and not nearly as easy as my other hitch I got from you.

by:

Wow. Out of every aftermarket kit I have ever installed, this was the easiest and a snap to install. Works perfectly and I use it many times throughout the week with my bike rack. Have not pulled anything with it.

The material for this is awesome and not crappy. Installed on a 2007 Honda Accord.

by:

The product was exactly what my auto prescribed for (unlike U-haul who ordered the wrong part that delayed my project two weeks), and that was due to your sales rep Vince who was very patient in dealing with a Boomer. Rather than being charged $65 for installation, I decided to install it myself. Rather than the half hour that was predicted, I took two hours because the washer needed to be grinded down in order for it to fit the hole on the frame.Your video tutorials were a great confidence builder..I would not have entertained the idea to do it myself otherwise

by:

I have used it for my bike rack with no problems. Nice clean piece, the install videos were good and helped save money. Need a torque wrench to do it right.

by:

I was very pleased with the trailer hitch, extension, and ball I received. The recommendations were spot on. The only recommendation I have to make was the instructions left a lot to be desired. Please consider adding links to youtube tutorials ( that's what I used) or make tutorial videos yourself. Other. Than that,mi would definitely order from this company again.

2005 Honda Accord

Very well made and a simple installation. I am amazed by the paint quality of this receiver hitch as it seems to be extremely well done. Installation time was approximately 1.5 hours, with the most difficult part taking about 30m, which included dropping the exhaust off the rear three hangers and shifting it out of the way of the frame hole so I could widen it slightly with a file. All in all this was an excellent purchase.

This hitch arrived 3 days earlier than expected and was pretty easy to install. I have not had an opportunity to use it to tow my trailer yet but I plan to.

Very easy to install. Has held up fanta sticly

by:
2007 Honda Accord

Just installed it tonight. The install video was excellent. I'm sixty plus and still like to do projects and have the satisfaction of doing it my self. The toughest part of the job is removing the upper exhaust hanger, be sure to spray liberally wth wd-40. Also make sure you support exhaust with strap before removing hangers.

by:

The hitch and wiring installed fine. I did have to shave down the carriage bolt above the muffler. Also had the grind down the metal plates so they would fit in the holes in the frame. They would not go inside the hole.

  • Excessive Noise After Installing Trailer Hitch On 2006 Honda Accord
I am not sure why there would be noise coming from the # C11327 installation concerning the tow hook on your 2006 Accord. The installation does require the exhaust hanger removal by taking off the rubber isolators. They are installed after the hitch has been installed and the bolts have been torqued to the specifications. It is possible that the exhaust is making contact with your hitch causing the noise you are hearing. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Honda Accord
Both hitches would work well for your 2005 Honda Accord but I would go with the part # C11327 since it is frame mounted over the pan mounted part # C11290. For what you are doing though it most likely would be fine either way though. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.

  • 2004 Honda Accord Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2-Bike Rack that Can Adapt to 4-Bike Rack
Thank you for all of the details regarding your situation! I will do my best to address all of your concerns so that you can go on rides with your sons in the future. You are correct that an adapter will reduce the weight rating of the trailer hitch by 50% but the good news is that it won't reduce the weight rating of your vehicle at all (which is 100 lbs for tongue weight found in the owner's manual). For your 2004 Honda Accord EX you need to use the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11327 as it...

The total trailer weight and tongue weight you mentioned having of 55 lb tongue weight and 455 lb total trailer weight would fall well within the towing capacity of your Accord so you'd be totally safe with this setup. I know you have a hitch already but for trailer wiring then the kit we'd recommend is the part # 118336 because it installs very easily and has the most reliable converter box of the kits we offer. I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11327 on your 2007 Honda Accord. He stated that while they have not heard of any issues like what you are describing with the small gap between the carriage bolt and tow loop on the vehicle, it is possible that there is a small manufacturer variance with the tow loop itself. It might be that the tow loop on your specific vehicle is just a tiny bit thinner than normal. He stated that under normal circumstances, if...
