Question:
My controller says it is wired right but it does not acknowledge that i have a trailer hooked up. But when i turn on my regular truck lights they work. Why would it say im not hooked up?

There are a few possible reasons why your Pro Series Pilot 2-6 Brake Electronic Brake Controller # 80550 is not recognizing a trailer connection with your tow vehicle.
I recommend first checking both the vehicle and trailer side connectors for any dirt or corrosion that may be leading to a weak connection. Assuming everything is wired correctly, this is the most common cause of the controller not detecting a trailer connection. If you see any dirt, debris or corrosion, simply clean out the connector and hopefully this will resolve the issue.
If the controller still does not detect when your trailer is connected, you can also check the brake controller wiring. Without the trailer connected, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the wires behind the controller. Make sure you have a good connection specifically on the power wire (black), ground wire (white) and brake wire (blue).
If everything checks out, then the issue may be on the trailer side. Look to make sure all ground connections, both for the main ground and for each brake magnet, are made to clean and corrosion free metal surfaces.
If you are still not able to resolve this issue, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
