To install a Reese fifth wheel slider hitch on your 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 with the 6-1/2 foot bed and not have any base rails in your truck bed, you will need to use the Reese Elite Series fifth wheel system. This system will consist of the Reese Elite Series 18K Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider and Wiring Harness, part # RP30144, and the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit, part # RP30868.
The Reese Elite Series hitch # RP30144, has a 18,000 lbs. towing weight capacity and comes with a slider with rounded rails. The slider has a fore and aft travel of 10 inches for extra clearance between the truck cab and the fifth wheel. This hitch will also come with a 90-degree wiring harness that will add a 7-way connector in your truck bed.
The Reese Elite Series under-bed installation kit uses the 1/4-Turn, quick-lock power puck system which allows the quick, simple mounting and removal of hitch. It is four mounting pucks on cross members that are mounted on top of the vehicle frame and under the truck bed. It only requires 4 small mounting holes be drilled in your truck bed so the fifth wheel hitch can attach to the mounting pucks. Since the rails are mounted under the bed, you will have complete access to the truck bed when the hitch is removed.
The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Square Tube Slider, part PS30094, will not work in the Reese Elite under-bed rail and installation kit.
I am including links to the installation instructions on the Reese Elite Series hitch and the under bed installation kit.
