Replacement Yakima Roof Rack Key

Question:

I didn't look but you also sell the rack for snowboards - right? We are looking for say 4 BOARD rack to fit the same cross bars as is on the car now.

Thank you for the picture, it always helps to be able to see what we are talking about.

Yakima puts different codes on their keys so there isn't a universal key that will work. Unfortunately, the key code is on the side of the lock so you will have to remove the lock cylinder to figure out what the number is. If the previous owner of your Audi happened to leave the roof rack unlocked, we are in luck. Yakima has a Replacement Control Key # Y8007835 that will allow you to remove the unlocked lock cores and check for the number on the inside of the core.

If the previous owner had locked up the roof rack and then lost the key then the only way for you to unlock it would be to have the cores drilled or see if a locksmith can open them. After they are drilled and removed you could then install your own lock cores for your roof rack and the attached bike racks. Using the Yakima Same Key System Lock Cores # Y07204 will allow you to use the same key to lock/unlock both your Yakima roof rack and bike racks.

I recommend going with the Yakima FatCat EVO 6 # Y03096. It does come with locks that can be changed out so that all of your Yakima accessories are keyed alike; eliminating the need for multiple keys between your roof rack and ski carrier. Another great feature of this roof rack is that it has large push buttons which makes loading and unloading equipment easy-especially when wearing gloves. I've attached a review video of this rack for you to see it in action.
