Recommended Weight Distribution System on 2006 Toyota Sequoia

Question:

I have a 2006 Sequoia that I will be using to tow my r-pod which weighs 2300lbs as stated on the title. My vehicle manual says to use an anti sway device when towing over 2000lbs. I need to decide on either an anti sway device or wdh. Can you help? Thanks.

A weight distribution system is recommended anytime your trailer weight is more than 50 percent of your tow vehicle's weight. With a 2300 lb. trailer, and your 2006 Toyota Sequoia, you're under that but not by much. Especially, if you have anything in the R-pod.

With that being the case, I recommend a weight distribution system with sway control. To determine the correct system, we need to determine your total tongue weight, which is the tongue weight of the loaded and ready to tow trailer added to the amount of weight in your Sequoia behind the rear axle. The tongue weight of your trailer is approximately 10-15 percent of its loaded weight. With a 2300 lb. trailer and the weight of cargp behind the rear axle of your SUV it's not likely you'll be over 500 lbs. tongue weight. If you'd like to be more exact on measuring this you can take your trailer to a scale and have it weighed. Or you can use a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044.

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0600 is an appropriate system for you. It's rated for 600 lbs. of tongue weight and has built in sway control to help keep your trailer in line.

You will also need a hitch ball go with the Fastway e2. For a 2 inch diameter ball use # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286.

I've attached some help articles on weight distribution and tongue weight for you.
