I have the P3 brake unit. I dont pull very often, how do I turn it off other then unplugging.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195, does not have an on and off switch. It will go into sleep mode after several minutes of no activity. The power draw when it is in the sleep mode is so negligible that it will not discharge the battery.

If you want the brake controller totally off, then you would have to unplug the connector from the back of the controller.

The spindle nut on a trailer axle should not be difficult to remove, it only requires a very small amount of torque. It should for the most part just turn off by hand after the retainer is removed whether it's a clip or pin. We don't…
