Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2016 Honda Pilot
Question:
It installing the hitch as easy as it sounds...i would like to not pay someone $110 plus to install it...also the wiring system set up part 118679 is that a generic set up...which will go with most any utility trailer or kayaks ...like malone ...do they just plug into the harness on the pilot???thanks

The trailer hitches for the 2016 Honda Pilot, such as # e98840, are pretty straight forward as the videos suggest. I have also linked the installation instructions for you so you can see all the steps.
The wiring harness # 118760 has a 4-Way flat connector which is the most common connector for trailers that only require lighting functions. It is also easy to install.
I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
