Needed help from a shop to install the hitch because the bolt threads on our vehicle had significant buildup of rust or corrosion. But once installed, the hitch has been great. We have done a lot of towing with it.

Still doing a lot of towing with this hitch and it’s working great.
Overall the product is good. Only problem is it’s more of a drop hitch and it sits lower. Getting into or exiting any spot particularly gas stations that has a big dip it bottoms out and hits the asphalt. Wish I would have payed more attention when ordering.

When it comes to hitches sometimes, they will be lower to the ground depending on the vehicle. There is a product from Roadmaster called the Rollaway that can help protect the hitch from scraping. It is part # RM-050.
The hitch is a great quality piece but the packaging job was terrible. The hitch broke completely loose inside the box and rails that bolt up to the vehicle had broken out of the box. The hitch is powder coated and the powder coating on the edge of the rails was heavily worn from being exposed outside the box. I am very disappointed in the care taken to package this hitch. I doubt I will purchase from etrailer.com again in the future.
Hitch arrived in 2 days. Installed it in about an hour by myself. Fit perfectly. Using it for my bike rack & to pull a small motorcycle trailer.

Product was easy to install within an hour (includes time to remove/reinstall the spare tire on 2016 Honda Pilot)! I recommend having someone help you lift it into place while installing the included bolts and washers. Box had a couple of holes and paint was rubbed off the lip of the hitch. The shipper should add extra cardboard padding or a heavier gauge box to reduce chance of damage to hitch.
Like many reviews I read before ordering I received my receiver hitch in a very badly damaged box. Upon opening what was left of the box I found the hitch to be of quality construction. The receiver tube had been wrapped fairly heavily in packaging tape but it had been rubbed through causing the paint on it to be worn off. Not a huge deal as that will happen as soon as I start using it but still annoying to receive a brand new item like that. I just hit it with some touch up paint and will likely do so once or twice a year to keep it looking good. If this review makes it to anyone in shipping perhaps just tape some extra cardboard tightly to the hitch before putting it in the box to prevent the edges from getting pushed through the outer box.
I want to start with the delivery, which I received two days before what was promised. This was perfect for my timing since I was able to have more time to install the hitch and wire harness. However, I did not need the extra time since it took me less than 25 minutes to install the hitch and another 40 minutes to install the wire harness. The instructions were clear and complete. I have used the combination several times since installation and has worked flawless.
Communication throughout the ordering/shipping process is great. Shipping was fast-ish so that was nice. The box the hitch was in was completely destroyed and the hitch was scuffed/scratched through the powder coating so we will see how long before rust sets in. Installation took less than an hour and was not difficult. The hitch is fairly heavy so it’s a 2 person install job. After installing the hitch and raising the spare tire back up, the spare tire does not return to its factory installs location flush under the Pilot. I shifted the spare tire back while raising it so it was against the hitch. The forward side of the tire now rests on the sway bar so the tire is an inch or so lower on the forward side. We shall see if that becomes an issue. I will update my review is issues arise.
Hitch itself seems to be solid and built well. Overall I’m somewhat satisfied but thing could be much better with packaging prior to shipping to prevent receiving a damaged part. And disclaimers about the re-install of the spare. My
Awesome custom trailer hitch. The holes aligned with the vehicle frame - just like they were supposed to. I used this to carry/attach a trailer-cargo-basket. I drove close to 4,000 miles in a week (from Texas to Florida and back). This hitch was secure, did not rattle, and works just like it is intended to. I decided to leave the hitch on the vehicle. Very inconspicuous.

I have used the trailer hitch a handful of times. Each time it is used - I only have the purpose of attaching additional carrying space trailercargo basket. The trailer hitch fit like a glove cliche on my 2017 Honda Pilot. Simple and straight forward - bolt on. NO DRILLING was required. The hitch looks nice - almost like it belongs. It does NOT stick out like a sore thumb. Very pleasant aesthetic.
Clean out your bolt holes as suggested but also thread a bolt in each hole all the way just to make sure they go in easily, because the hitch is heavy as heck. I suggest using blocks of wood to support it as you wrestle it into place.
Hitch arrived very quickly. The only problem was it appeared that the tongue ripped through the box, and in the process the powder coating chipped off around the opening. It's gotta be difficult to package something this heavy and unwieldy. Perhaps a bit more padding around the tongue could do the trick. The other thing I noticed was some irregularity in the metal, looks almost like it could be surface rust under the finish. Again, not a big deal. Overall I'm very happy with the hitch and, with the help of a friend, installation went pretty quick. We had a hard time trying to get the bolts torqued to XXX, we had to settle for a lower torque.

I will share this review with our shipping department and I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I recommend touching the imperfections up with a rust resistant paint such as Rustoleum if you have not done so already.
It was a little difficult for me to balance the receiver as a “one man” show. But, with a couple small jack stands, I had success. Well built hitch receiver with a tough finish. Delivered in only four days??.
The package was damaged including the hitch trailer, in addition the screws are missing,

I am so sorry to hear that. Shipping can be pretty touch on hitches. I am glad to see you are already communicating with our customer service team about getting this straightened out.
Not too damaged in shipment had spray a couple spots but no big deal.the hitch was easy to install by myself using a floor jack to raise hitch into place. I would recommend the hitch to anyone.
Hitch install took some time in garage alone but got it done with 1 floor jack and 1 scissor jack. Needed to slowly maneuver between exhaust hangers which were in way, did not have to remove them. Cleaned out weld nuts beforehand w/ wd-40. Matte black looks good overall! See pics of 2020 A-Spec MDX SHAWD.
1 star is generous. Received item damaged, paint chipped and scuffed off. Response from customer service is “we will credit you $15, go buy paint”. Don’t waste your time with etrailer, go to a local dealer.

We could always replace it for you, but it would cost more in shipping than it would be worth. This is why we generally offer a paint credit so that you can fix it and not have to wait for the reship. We definitely recommend covering any scratches with a Rust-Oleum type of paint.
Easy install. Get an extra set of hands. Works well with my bike rack. I also bought the light kit and it worked out good.
Heavy duty quality hitch. Installed on my 2016 Honda Pilot. Simple to install. Fit like a glove. Love the flat black powder coat finish and how well it is tucked up out of the way. My wife and I plan on attaching a bike rack to haul our new e-bikes.

After one year the hitch still looks brand new and has performed flawlessly.
Unit arrived early. Thanks eTrailer and UPS! I am a hard ridden 74 year old disabled vet, so it took me about an hour to install this unit on my back in the driveway with ramps. Did not use compressed air tools or a lift.For a 16 year old, it would be 30 minutes maximum. The unit is heavy duty and will do the job for sure. Clean the dirty threads on the vehicles screw holes. I used a brass 9mm gun bore brush. Spray the threads on the new bolts with a good lube. Easy job as the machine holes on the tow unit are spot on. Six bolts and done! I will let you know how the wiring harness works out when I get around to putting it on. Nap time now!

This hitch was a perfect fit for our 2019 Acura MDX hybrid. Although the MDX hybrid is not rated for towing, it is already prepped to receive a hitch. We won't be towing anything, but installed this to carry our bikes. Therefore didn't need the harness for lights and brake controllers.
This was a simple install and all parts and instructions were included. Our MDX is essentially new, so the mounting nuts, which are factory install and pre-welded to the frame, needed no cleaning. If dirty, a simply wire brush and a few spritzes of water should clean those out. Overall, it took about 10 minutes to unpack and install. My 16yo son and I picked a side, slid under the car, supported the hitch (about 50 lbs.) on our knees and screwed in the bolts. Once torqued to spec, the hitch was rock solid.
Overall, this seems to be an excellent product, perfect for our limited needs.

After a year, the hitch continues to do exactly what its supposed to, provide a secure means to attach our bike rack to our SUV. The Acura MDX hybrid is not rated for towing, but there are no restrictions limiting the use of a hitch mounted bike rack. In fact, all mounting points are provided. Accordingly, we installed the hitch as described in my prior review without any difficulty. After a year of regular use, it remains rock solid. No hesitation recommending this hitch.
This installation went as easy as the video described. I did it myself with out any help.
