Roller Bunks for a 3,000+ Pound Sailboat and Boat Trailer

Question:

My J24 sailboat weighs over 3000 lbs empty, with some gear on it it may be as much as 3300. How do I go about refitting my trailer to use rollers. What do even larger boats do?

For your sailboat I recommend using roller bunks # DL21741. But since the set is rated for a maximum of 3,000 pounds you will need to double up rollers. So for example if the trailer had 5 foot long bunks you would need 2 sets of rollers for each side to account for the total weight of the boat. that is what you would have to do for larger boats.

Even if not all of the weight is on the rollers all the time it is still a good idea to err on the side of caution and use additional roller bunks.

Depending on how wide the bunks are now on the trailer you may also need some brackets, # DL21742, to mount more than one set side by side. I have linked some videos on the bunks and brackets for you.
