Replacement Actuator and Hydraulic Brake Lines for 1989 Escort Boat Trailer
Question:
I am thinking of replacing my actuator rather than rebuilding the old dico actuator. I can not find an old part number, but I am sure it is for a 6000 lbs with 600lbs tounge limit. The two look almost identical in size. This is mounted on a 1989 escort boat trailer, with hydraulic braking. Is the demco DM72VR the actuator I need? One more question Please. I need to replace my lines as well. They are run inside the frame so I am considering running a flexable ulic line outside the frame rail, but I will need 16 feet. Is this acceptable and what do you recommend.

Yes. As long as you have a 3" wide channel tongue, you can use the Demco Hydraulic Trailer Actuator # DM72VR as a replacement for your current actuator. For new brake lines you'll want to use the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 18SI-BLKIT which will allow you to replace the brake lines on a trailer up to 18 feet long. There is also a 15 foot kit available with part # 15SI-BLKIT. I don't recommend running them outside of the frame since they could be pinched off quite easily, so we do recommend running them on the inside part of the trailer frame member and away from moving parts for safety.
You will also need 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 bolts for mounting the actuator, which are not included, but can be sourced at your local hardware store.
