Installing T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Honda Pilot 2015 with Factory Tow Package
Question:
The toughest part of the install and 2 ?s. The video was great. the bumper tab was difficult. the trick is to not pinch it - but instead push it up and pull the tab out. I learned this this hard way. I ended up pulling the entire thing out of the vehicle frame - but even with it out I couldnt release the factory installed cover. I kept pushing the top tab on the cover and trying to wrestle the cover off with pliers. Finally I saw what was holding things up and fiddled with it until I realized I needed to push up on the release. I am asking 2 questions before I test the lights. In the Aux fuse box - I am uncertain of the purpose of all the wiring there. It doesnt seem to lead to anything - I am assuming what has now been connected goes to the battery and to the bumper - so the connector has two purposes - the stuff added activates the bumper connection. The directions read as if the black box is optional to match your vehicle. Maybe a quick answer is that different black boxes ship - depending on the vehicle and you have to install it? Next question is about the instructions for the fuse install. I only received one fuse and from what I can tell there was only one place to install it. Although is was confusing because they were already 20amp fuses and then a 30amp fuse, then an open slot, then another 30amp fuse, etc. It seems old that the 20amp would go between 2 30amp fuses. Anyway - should I look closer at this and install another 20amp fuse someway. Does this vary by vehicle type too and depending on the type they only send you one fuse instead of the instructions indicating 2?

The black converter box that installs at the rear "AUX FUSE" compartment ensures that the wiring going to the 7-Way trailer connector has the same combined wiring system that trailers use for the trailer lights to work properly. This converter box is a necessary component of the wiring set-up to ensure the light signals are sent to the trailer's lights correctly. The same converter box is used for all styles of the 2015 Honda Pilot, it is not different depending on the Pilot's trim level.
The wiring kit includes 2 relays, which plug into the converter harness, and a single 30-amp fuse. This fuse is installed in the fuse box in the engine compartment, on the driver's side. I have attached a photo showing the location to install the fuse in the fuse box. There may still be open fuse spots in the fuse box, but you will not need to purchase any additional fuses to complete the installation of the # 118265 wiring harness.
I've attached a review video of this wiring harness that will go over the installation steps and where the components need to be installed. The written instructions are also linked. If you'd like to test the lights before plugging in the trailer's connector, a circuit tester, such as # PTW2993, will work well to test each pin on the vehicle-side trailer connector.
