Spindle Recommendation for Hub that Uses Inner and Outer Bearing L44649

Question:

I have a new replacement hub for my trailer that I purchased at tractor supply. All the dimensions are correct for my trailer except for the length of the spindle. The new hub has L44649 bearings and the hub and bearings are for a 1inch diameter spindle. Do you have a spindle that will work with this hub and bearing combo? The axle is round and 1-3/4inch o.d. I need to replace the spindle the original is trashed due to a bearing failure. It appears by my measurements my spindle is a1/2inch too short for this new hub kit. Thanks

Based on your hub having two of the L44649 bearings that would mean you need a BTR spindle like the part # TRU44FR.

To replace a spindle, the old one would need to be cut off, and the new one welded into place. This is NOT a job for the do-it-yourselfer. The new spindle must be absolutely square with the axle in order to prevent premature tire wear and wheel tracking problems. I would recommend finding a welder who is experienced with trailer axles. Your local RV dealer or repair facility could probably refer you.
