Best Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with a Sidewinder on a Toyota Tundra Crewmax 5-1/2 foot Bed
Question:
Hello, I have purchased a 27 rock wood ultra lite 5th wheel with the reese sidewinder hitch. I am wondering if I would still need a sliding hitch in the back on my toyota tundra crewmax or if the sidewinder will give me enough clearance for tight turns. Thank you!

No you do not need a sliding fifth wheel hitch. Actually it is not recommended to use a Sidewinder with a slider hitch. It is also not recommended to use a gooseneck to fifth wheel trailer adapter with a Sidewinder either.
The Sidewinder is intended to give you the ability to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a shorter bed and is going to give you the most clearance possible. A great fifth wheel hitch to go with a Sidewinder is the Reese - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs. # RP30047 with the Reese Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP50082-58. The 2-Jaw locking system will have less rattle and provide a smooth ride. You may also be interested in the wiring harness for your Tundra # 41157. I have attached a review video of this hitch for you to see.
