Availability of a Replacement Trailer Wheel for an ST205/75D15 Trailer Tire

Question:

I recently damaged one of my trailer wheels and need to purchase a replacement. The tire size is: ST205/75D15 and it appears to be mounted on a Redline 15 wheel with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern. When I measured the width of the wheel I got 6.5 from inside bead to inside bead, but I do not find this size wheel in a 6.5 width. What is the proper why to measure my wheel to determine the correct size?? Thanks for your help.

I spoke with our resident tire expert and he stated that you have measured the wheel width correctly. The ST205/75-15 tire size will fit on range of wheel widths from 5 inches wide to 6-1/2 inches wide.

I would only have two choices of 15 inch wheels in that 5 on 5 bolt pattern. They are both a 15 x 5 inch wide wheel size. The first is the Redline 15 x 5 White Spoke Mod, part # 17-377-7, and the second is the Dexstar 15 x 5 White Spoke, part # AM20428.

If you were to use a different width wheel then what your other wheels are, you would need to replace all of the trailer wheels with the same size. Having one larger or smaller than the others will increase wear, decrease handling, and decrease ride quality.

I have included a couple of FAQ articles on measuring trailer tires and measuring the bolt hole pattern on a trailer wheel.
