Is the 30,000 Pound 2-5/16 Inch Gooseneck Coupler Head Weldable

Question:

I noticed that the coupler head is cast, is it weldable without a special welding process? Bulldog shows a weldable for a 3 inch ball, but I cant seem to find one for a 2 5/16 ball. Any other manufacturers that may have 2 5/16 weldable, please advise. Thank you very much.

The 2-5/16 inch Gooseneck Coupler Head with 1/2 inch Lock Pin, 30,000 lbs., item # 291300, is cast construction and will require that a qualified weldor with experience in welding cast materials be utilized to attach the coupler to your equipment.

Welding a cast part can require a number of different processes to make sure the part is securely connected and not weakened by the welding process. Some times heating the part is required depending on its makeup. Other times the part needs to be peened with a hammer to keep it from cracking while cooling. A qualified weldor can determine what process is needed to secure this particular part and retain the capacities needed for towing.
