Can a 5.30-12 Tire and Wheel be Replaced by a 205/65-10 Tire and Wheel

Question:

I am looking to replace the 5.30x12 tires and wheels. It looks since I have 5.5 inches from the mounting rim axle face to the trailer that the 205-65x10 would also fit?

As long as the 205/65-10 tire and wheel combo will offer you enough weight capacity for your trailer and you have the clearance for the additional width, you can certainly use 205/65-10 size tires in place of your existing 5.30-12 size tires.

Since some of the 205/65-10 tires offer a higher weight capacity than the 5.30-12 tires, the weight capacity isn't an issue for your set-up. The 205/65-10 tire you referenced, # AM3H480, has a Load Range E rating, with a maximum load of 1,650 pounds at 90 psi.

The 205/65-10 tires are approximately 1.4 inches wider than your existing 5.30-12 tires. As long as you have the clearance for the additional width, these tires will fit well for your trailer.

When choosing the replacement tire and wheel, you will want to make sure the wheel bolt pattern of the new wheel matches the bolt pattern on your trailer's hubs. The # AM3H480 tire has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern. I have attached a review video of this wheel for you.

Keep in mind that using a 205/65-10 will cause your trailer to ride lower to the ground, and may require some adjusting at the ball mount to tow your trailer level.
