Does the Friction Sway Control Bar Need To Be Removed Before Backing Up
Question:
All the friction sway control units say ....cant be used when backing up. Do I have to remove unit when I need to back up? Thats not always possible in a tight spot....i.e. Fuel stop , parking etc. Thanks

You will want to remove the friction sway control when you are backing up. Damage to the unit can occur if it is not unhooked while backing up.
To unhook the unit, you will want to release the tension on the bar and pull the pins securing the unit to the ball at the hitch and the ball on the trailer.
When preparing to pull into a parking lot or fuel stop, it is a good idea to unhook the friction sway control unit before entering the lot, or soon after. When possible, find a safe place to pull over and unhook the friction bar before pulling into a situation where backing may be required.
