Get a smoother ride, better traction, and more stopping power during turns than you'd get with traditional, ladder-pattern cables. These low-profile, lightweight cables are great for driving in light snow. Tensioners are included for a tight fit.

  • Provides traction for your vehicle in light snow
    • Diagonal pattern offers steady traction during turns and a smoother ride than ladder patterns
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles
  • Provides alternative to heavy, bulky snow chains
    • Low-profile rollers wrap around wire cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links
    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

  • Fits: 15" - 20" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 cable chains
  • 30-Day limited warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

2022 Toyota RAV4

To be clear, I have not used the tire chains in snow yet. But etrailer's info they provided, clear communication, and speedy delivery were fantastic. I put the tire chains on using their helpful video and had zero problems despite this being my first time ever.

by:
2022 Ford Maverick

I haven't tried them in the snow yet, and hope I never have to, but they're super-easy to install in my driveway. The communication with and service from etrailer was beyond great.

by:

Super tight fit but being a 67 yr old female I was able to manage getting them installed.

by:

They are a rather snug fit on my Honda CRV 235/60R18 tires but worked beautifully on my very icy hillside 1/3 mile driveway. Easy to put on. Very happy to have them.

by:

I haven't put them yet, but going by the other ones I bought they should work well.

by:
2018 Honda CR-V

I bought these for my 2018 CR-V. They were quick and easy to install. There was plenty of clearance behind the wheels. Once I use them in the snow I’ll update my review, but I’m extremely pleased so far.

by:

excellent product. Just as described. Great service.

by:

It is such a hassle to buy cable chains in a store and you are never quite sure they will fit. Buying them from etrailer was super easy and the quality is much better.

by:

First call was to get a suggestion on the brand that carries my size tire and the second call to order. Exceptional service and most helpful videos. Estimated delivery came one day earlier then expected. This is my second set of cables for different vehicles. I would recommend highly this company for their assistance, installation videos and delivery. Follow-up was another great feature. Totally Satisfied customer.

by:
2012 Toyota Tacoma

The chains are the easiest snow chains to install. Smart design and it actually comes with a storage bag that you can get them back into.
Haven't actually had to use then yet, so can't comment on their effectiveness or durability. 5 stars to etrailer.com for their customer service.

by:

The tire chains we bought were high quality, fit as described, and we were very satisfied. Service via the website was also very good. Thanks!

by:

I’ve never put tire chains on before. These were very easy instructions were very clear and the tighteners that came with it fit very well

by:
Honda Pilot

These chains barely fit a 23560R18 tire on a Honda Pilot which I believe is my tire size. So you really have to stretch the cable to make the connections. However they are good quality and though I didn't drive them in snow they fit snugly and look durable.

by:

We were on our way home from Washington State
and had to use the cables. We drove about 4-5 hours before one of the cables broke.

by:
2021 GMC Sierra

Good Quality. Reasonable price. I use chains maybe 3 times per year traveling through the Sierra Nevada’s.

by:
2017 Kia Sorento

I have not had to use the cable chains yet.

by:

Under promised and over delivered! I received my snow cable set a day early! Amy H is to be commended for her diligence and professionalism!

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Excellent, work as expected, didn't have any trouble putting them on my minivan.

by:

Very prompt delivery. The cables came in a sturdy bag. There is a clear instruction sheet complete with color photos. I practiced putting them on my vehicle and they seem to fit fine although I have not had to use them yet.

by:

The exact product I ordered at a good price. Arrived on time and in new condition. Met my expectations.

  • Can Tire Chain Cables Be Used on 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Tire Size 225/60R18
There are cable tire chains that fit your tire size of 225/60R18 like with the Titan chains part # TC729DC which we have installed on the front axle of a very similar 2022 Toyota RAV4. You can see this in the attached install video link.

  • Recommended Tire Cables for an AWD 2016 Kia Sorento
According to the owner's manual for your 2016 Kia Sorento, tire cables under 15 mm thick are recommended instead of tire chains. Since you have an all wheel drive (AWD) model, it is also recommended to use the cables on all four tires. For your Sorento, I recommend the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC729DC as long as you have 235/65-17, 235/60-18, or 235/55-19 tires. If you have a different size tire please let me know what that size is and I would be glad to...

  • Can Non Class-S Snow Tire Chains Be Used on a 2018 BMW X3
I do have an option for you but I can't recommend using non-class s snow tire chains on a 2018 BMW X3 as the manual specifies that only fine link chains can be used. Instead, I recommend the Konig Tire Chains part # TH01594245 for models with 225/60R18 tires or part # TH01594250 for models with 245/50R19 tires. These chains have a diamond pattern which create a smooth ride and they self-tension you don't ever have to worry about them coming loose. They are class s rated which means they...

I took a look at the owner's manual for your 2018 Honda CR-V and it does say you need to use cables, and on the front tires only so you should definitely follow that guideline so as not to cause any unnecessary damage. With that in mind I recommend the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC729DC because they have a diagonal cross pattern that will increase your traction and are easily installed with the included rubber tensioners. These chains will fit tires that are...

The Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC729DC are an excellent option for your 2015 Honda Pilot SE and would be exactly what I recommend using. They have both a v-shaped pattern for increased traction and ride quality as well as included tensioners which will keep the cables positioned correctly on the tires. • Are Cables For 2020 Toyota RAV4 With 235/55R19 Tires Same as Chains
Cables and chains, even if they are Class S will both have clearance issues so for your 2020 Toyota RAV4 with 235/55R19 tires, I would not assume that cables are okay like the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC729DC. It is likely that size tire will have interference on the inside of the tire as it would be too close to the vehicle. That said, I do know that in some places you have to have a set of traction devices with you in order to travel, so if you just need something...

These D-link chains have a diamond pattern for better traction and have built in rubber tensioners to keep the chains snug. The chains require just 16mm of clearance on the inside wheel well. There certainly is a set of tire chains that will work for your 225/60-18 and 235/60-18 tires. I recommend Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains - Light Truck - 1 Pair # TC729DC.
