Sway Control Recommendation For 2020 Tear Trailer That Weighs 3,500 lbs
Question:
I will be towing a 2020 TB400 tear GVWR 3,500 Tongue 325-470 with a 2020 Chevy Colorado V6 Z71. I can not imagine I would need a weight distribution hitch. But I am thinking a sway bar alone might be a decent safety measure and improve the towing experience. I am new to this and would greatly appreciate your thoughts/recommendations on my set-up. Thanks - you guys are great!

Congratulations on your new tear drop trailer. We normally recommend using a weight distribution system when the trailer weighs 50% or more than the vehicle's weight, you are experiencing sway and/or the Colorado is sagging. Sometimes you won't really know that you need a weight distribution system until you get a feel of how the setup tows especially on the highway.
Since your trailer only weighs 3,500 lbs at it's heaviest I don't foresee you having issues with sagging or needing weight distribution. For that reason, I recommend the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit part # 83660. The single friction bar will help to combat sway and keep the lightweight trailer in line.
