Best Fifth Wheel Towing Setup Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 2500 Short Bed

Question:

Double checking before I spend the money - Have 2016 Ram, 2500 4x4, crew cab, short bed, 64inch with fifth wheel prep package. Pulling 42foot Cedar Creek, Hathaway Edition. Has LIPP1621HD pin box. From center of king pin to outside corner of trailer is 49 - 50 inches. Dry weight is 13,000 lbs. One consideration is Demco Hijacker slider hitch - but Im not convinced it will have the clearance or needed extra clearance on 90 deg. turns - can you comment on this. My measurements tell me it will just clear cab and none to spare. Second consideration is BandW bwrvk3600 - and - a sidewinder, one rated at 19000 lbs. Is my thinking correct that the Bandw with sidewinder is my best choice or do you have another consideration. Will be pulling the trailer / camper multi-state 6-8 times a year. Highly appreciate your help and will be spending my money with you - you have a very high rating......

The best option for a short bed truck like yours is to go with a Sidewinder as it will give you 22 more inches of pivot point clearance (much more than a slider hitch), and won't require you to get out and activate the slider mechanism of the fifth wheel hitch when you get to parking lot and then again when you are leaving the parking lot.

The B and W Companion # BWRVK3600 will fit your Ram hitch prep package and would be an excellent option.

Since you said you have a Lippert 1621HD pin box on your trailer the correct Sidewinder would be the # RP34FR which has a 20k capacity and is confirmed as a fit. The correct wedge will be the part # SWW-06.
