Installing 7-Way Trailer Harness On 2014 Honda Pilot

Question:

I asked a trailer/hitch company for a 7 way connector on my Honda Pilot. They installed a 7 way connector, but cut off the 4 way connector and installed the 7 way connector. What other wiring is needed to get the full 7 way capability. Are there more relays and fuses needed? Currently brake lights, turn signals and parking light all work.

We do have an easy solution to get you a 7-way on your 2014 Pilot.

I recommend a harness like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package, part # 118265. This harness comes with the required relays and is really pretty easy to install. You would need to open the rear hatch and push the rear seat forward to get to the access door on the driver side of the rear cargo area. As the instructions state, you would need to open the AUX FUSE door. There is a white trailer tow plug behind the door. If you do not already have a converter plugged into the plug you can plug the black converter into that plug.

You will then go to the engine compartment and install the included fuse as shown in the instruction.

At the rear of your Pilot under the rear bumper there will be a grey connector. You will remove the connector from your existing 7-way and install the 7-way harness with this kit. This should be all you need to have a fully functioning 7-way connector you said you wanted on your Pilot.

I need to buy the 7 blade wiring harness, I need trailer brakes and a hot wire for charging trailer battery. Do u have a harness for the brake controller. My truck is a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD.

@Shaun If your 2001Silverado 2500HD came with the factory tow package there will be a plug under the truck near the rear bumper where you can plug in the Curt # C55774 harness. This will give you a 7-way connector and flat 4-way connector. If your Chevy did not come with the factory tow package then you will want to use the Curt # C59496 kit which will give you a 4-way connector. Add to that a # ETBC7 kit to add a 7-way connection at the bumper. Either way you will get a 12 volt accessory connecion for your trailer battery. The accessory line will keep your trailer battery topped off, but will not recharge a dead battery.
