Could the Taskmaster Wheel and Tire TA39VR Replace a 8.75x16.5LT Tire
Question:
Hello, I have a 2002 Escort Trailer single axle rated at 6000 lb. The trailer currently have 8.75x16.5LT Goodyear Workhorse that needs replacing. Would it be okay to go down in wheel size to a 16? I am looking at this tire and wheel package: TA39VR, will the painted wheels be okay in saltwater use? I do not see a combination with galvanized wheels. Thank you.

If your current wheels have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern the part # TA39VR would bolt up to your hub. If the capacity of this wheel/tire (3,520 lbs at 80 psi), is more than you would need then this would work well for you.
Since you have a 6k axle and each these wheel/tire combos have capacities that are more than half of what you would need you should be fine. What is nice about this setup is that they are rated for 81 mph. Most trailer tires are limited to 65 miles per hour.
Nothing metal will last forever when exposed to saltwater, your best option would be the part # AM34969B which comes with an aluminum wheel. Aluminum doesn't rust.
