Large Rooftop Cargo Box Recommendation For 2010 Jeep Commander
Question:
Good morning, I am moving across country with my 2010 Jeep Commander NM to AL and am looking for a large roof box for all my crap. My Commander has a roof rack already, just need the box. The largest you have. It has to lock will likely be spending the night a several hotels along the way and be waterproof. What do you recommend? Thank you!!

The largest rooftop cargo box we carry is the Thule Motion XT, part # TH629906. This cargo box offers 22 cubic feet of storage space and has a weight capacity of 165 pounds. It is designed to fit round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. The Motion can be opened from either side of the vehicle, and features Thule's One-Key System locks on each side.
I have attached a review video of this cargo box for you.
We do not carry any waterproof cargo boxes. A rooftop cargo box will protect your belongings from dirt and road debris, but the boxes are not watertight. The cargo box will still protect your luggage from becoming soaked when driving through rain, but there are still ways for the water to get inside the box. The mounting clamps on the bottom are in a track that could let moisture in, and the lid does not have a seal to keep out water.
I recommend checking the weight capacity of your 2010 Jeep Commander's roof, as well as the weight capacity of your roof rack. It is important to not exceed the weight capacity for your vehicle. The Thule Motion XT weighs approximately 55 pounds without any gear inside.
