How Thick of a Door will the Redline Door Latch L3980 Fit

I am looking for a door latch that releases and locks,from the inside for a 2004 forest river utility trailer. Something you would find on an RV. I read questions other customers had. Is there somewhere on the trailer, or in the vin that would tell us the thickness of the door . Thank you

You are going to have to measure the thickness of your door. I wish there was a way to determine the thickness of a trailer door by looking at the VIN or elsewhere, but that info isn't something a trailer manufacturer would list somewhere since it's not super relevant for most people.

The part # L3980 will fit your door as long as it's up to 1-1/16 inches thick.

The Full Size Locking Steel Flush Door Latch #L3980 that you referenced can fit doors that are up to 1-1/6 inches thick. It would have no problem fitting yours that is 1 inch thick. This latch requires a hole size that is 3-3/8 inch by 4-5/8 inches.
