Will 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles Flex When Weight is Placed On It

Question:

I own a 2021 Grand Design Solitude 375RES Fifth Wheel with dual axles with MORyde CRE3000 that has been configured by Grand Design with 8k axles and disk brakes. I need to buy a set of replacement leaf springs and I thought that the Dexter DX74XR should be the right ones but the length measurement is different. According to your specs, it should have 24-7/8inch center of spring eye to center of spring eye but when I measure my 7 leaf double eye springs, I get 25-3/4inch while loaded. Unfortunately, I cant measure them un-loaded. The rest of the specs are similar: 7 x leafs, 3/8inch thick, 1-3/4inch wide. Could the discrepancy in length being one inch longer be caused by the fact that I measured the spring loaded? If yes, is the DX74XR Leaf Springs, the correct replacement on my 2021 Grand Design Solitude 375RES?

If your 2021 Grand Design Solitude 375RES is loaded when you're taking that measurement then yes, that would be why you're seeing a difference in the length from what you're measuring and what we have listed for the 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # DX74XR.

As weight is placed on the springs they naturally flex which is why you're seeing what you're seeing.
