What is Length Measurement of 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring DX74XR

Question:

Etrailer shows the length of DX74XR as 24-7/8, Dexter shows 072-079-00 as 25.25. Is there a difference in length or is it just a disparity in measurement techniques. Also, will the APUBR-9 with 7-1/8 U-bolts long enough for a 3inch Dexter 7k axle using the DX74XR 4k leaf springs for extra support due to our awful road repairs? I have now broken two 3.5k leaf springs at different times over 50k miles. Thanks for your advice.

I checked directly with Dexter, and from what I saw they have a measurement - taken from center of spring eye to center of spring eye - of 24.8", which is the same as our 24-7/8" measurement for the 7-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles # DX74XR.

The only reference to 25.25" I saw was from a different retailer, and maybe they were talking about the overall length, but it is not the correct center eye to center eye length. As for the U-bolts, yes, a 7k Dexter axle and the # DX74XR leaf springs are absolutely compatible and will work very well with the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 7-1/16" Long U-Bolts # APUBR-9.
