Recommended Hitch And Cargo Carrier For 2013 Hyundai Tucson With Panoramic Sunroof

Question:

I have a 2013 Hyundai Tucson with a panoramic sunroof and no trailer hitch. Were going on vacation next weekend and need extra storage. Are there any options? I cannot find a roof weight limit in my manual, the only thing I can find is that Hyundai doesnt recommend installing a roof rack on a vehicle with a panoramic sunroof.

Since the manual for your Tucson says you should not carry anything on the roof I cannot recommend a roof rack but I do have other options.

I recommend installing a trailer hitch and then use a cargo carrier to hold the extra things you want to carry.

The trailer hitch I recommend is the Draw-TiteTrailer Hitch, part # 75717. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening.

I also recommend a cargo carrier like the Pro Series Hitch Cargo Carrier, part # 63153. This is a 24 x 60 carrier that attaches to a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver and has a mesh floor that makes it easy to clean. The carrier has a 2-1/2 inch shank rise for additional ground clearance.

To secure the carrier to your hitch I recommend our etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98880.

To hold your cargo in place when in the carrier I recommend using a cargo net like part # H9500100. This 36 x 48 stretchable net has plastic hooks that help hold everything in place.

You will want to make sure you do not exceed the tongue weight capacity of your Tucson.
