Video Transcript for Reese Stretchable Cargo Net Review

The Reese cargo net is gonna be a very simple solution to get all the contents in your cargo carrier nice and tied down just with one unit. The stretchy material and the hooks at the bottom works really well with the etrailer cargo carrier but also the other ones as well. It's gonna be a lot easier and quicker than ratchet straps. With this, it's all one unit. So, if something starts to give a little bit, it's gonna make it a little bit tighter on the other end. With a ratchet strap, we're gonna need multiple to get this amount of security with all of our stuff.

One thing about a cargo net, it's not waterproof. Of course, we have a lot of different gaps here but all of our cargo is waterproof itself. So we don't have to worry about that. But if you want something that's gonna be just as easy as the cargo net. We do have a bag and that is gonna have straps on it and it's gonna be waterproof.

So check out that video. We actually took it through a car wash to prove how waterproof it really is. If you're traveling with friends or just multiple different people, the cargo net's gonna be a little bit better than the cargo bag just because everybody's gonna have their own little spot on the carrier for their stuff. So let's just say, I just need this and we're gonna be taking this on maybe like a kayak ride or something. We can take these clips off, as they are on there, so that's good.

And then we can grab whatever we need. So, we don't have to sift through a bag to grab what we want. This is the kayak bag. This is maybe the hiking bag. This is for the campsite and the cooler for beverages.

At first, I wasn't too confident in a cargo net being able to secure all of my stuff down but, it all comes down to the size. So this one right now is 36 by 48 and we're using it on a 60 by 24 inch cargo carrier. So, you really have to get an idea of what you are putting it on and what you're kind of putting and tying down. So with this on the hooks, they're gonna be made of plastic but they do like to bend a little bit. So they're not gonna crack. They're not too rigid. And this is pretty much a one inch diameter circle, but it just has an open end. So I like to start on one side and notice how it kind of goes perfect around our little tube. And this is the etrailer cargo carrier. And whenever you wanna take them off, you just have this little pull ring to help you out a little bit. So I'm just gonna start on one side. Once I kind of get one side going, I actually end up going on the other side and stretching it out. And you gotta pull a decent amount to get this stretched out all the way, which is good. Because the more we pull, the tighter it's gonna be. Once that's done, I just kind of work my way around, put those in place, find the best spot for it. And each carrier's gonna have the best spot to kinda put the hooks, but it also just comes down to where we're putting our cargo as well. And as I'm starting to go around here, it's getting a little bit harder to pull which means it's getting nice and tight, which is good, which is good. It's very, very quick and easy. I just, the fact that I don't have to mess with ratchet straps makes me just wanna get one of these for all of my carriers, because it's a lot quicker to load stuff up and get to wherever we want to go. Want the final couple hooks, they're the hardest ones to get on, once they're on they're on. And just like that everything's secured. Nothing's really moving around. Bags aren't moving. Even the circular item isn't moving, and we're good to go. So this is what we fit underneath our cargo net but we have a lot more room. If we have more dry bags, I mean we could fit probably another one right here and a lot more in the middle as well. So, when it comes to the cargo net, this one specifically. There's not a whole lot to it, especially with all the other carbon nets that are out there. It's just elastic bands, it's a certain size and it has hooks. So these will work with your roof baskets as well. The biggest thing with it is just find the right size. So again, we we're talking about how this is a 36 by 48 net and we're using it on a 60 by 24. So, it's about a foot-ish, 12 inches longer and wider than the cargo net. So kind of take that and get an idea of what you're really working with on your roof or on your cargo carrier and pick your cargo net accordingly. But again, this one's perfect for the etrailer cargo carrier and this was the Reese cargo net..

Great product for keeping more bulky suppliers on the cargo carrier. We use ours with our Reese Cargo Carrier.

by:

It holds everything in place as expected and I have been pleased with my purchase.

by:

This cargo carrier is very well constructed and was easy to assemble for two people. We purchased this to have the ability to take a large deck box to Florida from Michigan to have additional storage to transport our golf clubs and other household items we use in Florida. Then to use the deck box for additional storage when in Florida. We also purchased the cargo net item H9500100 to strap the box to the carrier. This has work extremely well. There was no movement and you didn't know it was even in the back of the vehicle. Do to the design of the carrier we can still get into our rear door without removing the carrier even loaded with the deck box on the carrier. Also our tail lights and license plate are still visible.

Over all I could not be any happier with my hitch / cargo basket buying and install experience. A huge thank you to Chris and George on the etrailer team. All of my pre-order questions were answered promptly, and everything arrived as scheduled. The boxes were a little banged up, but after reading the reviews, that was to be expected.

The install of the Class III hitch on my 2012 Legacy 3.6 could not have gone smoother. The videos really help to set expectations, and lets you know exactly what you need to do. My Legacy 3.6 has a dual exhaust set-up so there was a little more work involved with dropping the exhaust and another heat shield needed to be trimmed, but other than that the instal is exactly the same as the video that shows you how to instal the larger Class II hitch.

A few tips, when dropping the exhaust, you will need remove the rubber hangers that support each muffler and the next rubber hanger located right before the exhaust splits from one pipe into two. This will allow you to lower the exhaust far enough out of the way. I had the car supported by jack stands and used a small jack to support the exhaust (see picture). As for drilling the access holes, I did it from under the car and had zero problems. All said and done from the time the car was put on jack stands to the time it was ready to be lowered was exactly two hours. Again, zero complaints!

Thank you etrailer!

I am happy to report that all of the products, hitch, cargo basket and cargo net, that I purchased from you all are working just great, and in fact just used everything last week on a family trip to the beach.

I ordered a Curt hitch for my 2015 Kia Sorento on Friday, and the following Wednesday it arrived. From the time the box came off the truck, it took me 2 hours ( taking my time ) to install the hitch, wiring auxiliary, and assemble/ install the aluminum folding flat rack. Everything went on perfectly easy and Curt has come up with very helpful instructions / youtube videos for installation. Best of all, etrailer had everything shipped to me for 50% off the retail price!
I would for sure order from them again and recommend you do the same .

by:

Ordered this for my 2015 Ford Escape. I like it because it does not extend beyond the width of the vehicle. It's sturdy but also lightweight. I purchased a couple of the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches - RM-061 to help lock it down. Scratches easily. Assembly was quick and straight forward. Would recommend as a value buy. Exactly what I was looking for.

by:

The quality of the hitch is excellent. The instructions were informational and correct. Following the instructions will install the hitch. Installation is difficult with only one person. As the instructions indicate, it is better with two people. It is even better to install under a lift instead of on your back. I hired a mechanic because of his lift. I threaded the bolts in place and had the mechanic install under lift. 30 minutes for him to install, less than 30 for me to thread the bolts in place. It does look factory installed. I would recommend this hitch for someone looking to buy a quality hitch that can be installed with a little help!!!

by:

Received the cargo rack exactly on the day promised. Followed the instructions and had the rack put together and installed on my Dodge Journey hitch in less than an hour. While an adjustable wrench could be used (per instructions), a ratchet set makes the job very easy (there are a lot of nuts and bolts to install and tighten). A very nice touch was the manufacturer screwed all of the bolts, washers and nuts together in sets which made it very easy to check for missing parts and to complete the installation quickly. Impressed with the quality of the rack, the ease of putting it on and taking it off of the hitch, and the ability to tighten it down on the hitch nice and snug. One concern I have for my particular setup is the twin exhausts on the Dodge Journey blow straight into the back side of the rack with about 10 inches of clearance. Planning on attaching metal flashing across the back of the rack to deflect the exhaust when carrying suitcases or other items where heat might be a concern. I am very happy with the purchase and feel that this rack is a great value based on the purchase price.

by:

I've been able to stack quite a bit of stuff under this webbing and it has even caught some tree limbs and taken them rite off. it has stayed secure through rain and wind and I find that it doesn't tangle easily. it's a great size for my Yakima megawarrior ( sans extension ). I often out my boots up top to dry as I head down the highway and never been concerned about them flying off

I feel very lucky to have found eTrailer and their products.. the products I bought for my Prius were excellent and outperformed from my expectations.. the customer service is phenomenal. So rare these days to have a company and it's people to really care about their products and their customers.

This will keep me coming back for ALL my needs on these types of products.

Thank you etrailer!!

by:

Out-of-the-box fit with my Class I hitch. Plenty of clearance for my 2009 Nissan Sentra. Nice to only have to insert two bolts to assemble, unlike some competitors' models that I returned very quickly because they did not fit the Class I receiver.

One item that could be improved is the included clevis pin: the cotter clip simply slides over the groove and not through a hole drilled in the pin. That would make the product so much better.

by:

The best cargo carrier on the market!!! I've used it many times and also let friends and family take it on their vacations as well. The aluminum frame is holding up well from the harsh upstate New York weather to the salty air of the Atlantic. Thanks etrailer!

by:

LOVE my cargo carrier. I have used it many times this past year to help friends move, and many times to just carry stuff in general. I am also loving tbe cargo net bungee. I love that I don't have to worry when I tie things down. Thanks!

by:

By far not the best cargo carrier but by far the best for the price. Bought to transport bicycles. Outstanding service! Unbelievable fast turn around on order and delivery. Had hitch, cargo carrier assembled and less than a hour. Added a 12" extension to clear spare. Highly recommend eTrailer for any that asks and will certainly use for future purchases.

by:

We have no complaints about this product. Assembly was made easier by the suggestions of former reviewers and took about 45-60 minutes. We are using it now on a long trip and after 8 days have had no trouble with it at all. We have it on the back of our Honda Odyssey minivan. The cargo bag has proven to be waterproof.

by:

Fit and finish is very good.easy to put together. Cargo net works well.one of the plastic hooks broke.holds alot.more than I thought. Putting on and off truck can be done by yourself. Folding feature is a great option. Hardware is nice, nylock nuts are a nice touch .very happy with it.

by:

The product was received on the date it was supposed to be received. All or the instructions to assemble the and install the units were easy to follow. After viewing the video of the assembly of the receiver hitch for my Prius, I canceled an order I had made with another company which included installation, and saved over $100.00. I was very pleased with the service and the product.

by:

Product arrived quickly with easy instructions and good quality. Installed on truck in less than 30 mins. Only thing I wish it would have included was a trailer bolt to keep the extender in the hitch- luckily I had an extra one. Aside from that I'm pleased with the product quality and ease of install.

by:

Paid extra for rush delivery, and the cargo carrier & cargo net arrived on time/early. The cargo carrier is very sturdy... it was easy to assemble, but due to weight I'm glad I had my 20 year old son to assist.

by:

The only thing that is bad the plastic hook or hooks break easy.otherwise I like it it works good

by:

I purchased this Product with a Rola rack. Both are great and easy to setup. I have recommended these products to many people. Great product for the price!

  • Can Cargo Carrier be Used on Rear of Travel Trailer
That's a good question, and cargo carriers can be used on the rear of travel trailers although unlike bike racks they are not tested for that use. The reason why bike racks need to be approved for that use is because the additional vibration and bounce that occurs on the rear of a trailer can be problematic for something as lightweight and relatively delicate as a bike that has moving parts. With that in mind we recommend you use a cargo carrier with a fixed shank on the rear of a travel...

Since the manual for your Tucson says you should not carry anything on the roof I cannot recommend a roof rack but I do have other options. I recommend installing a trailer hitch and then use a cargo carrier to hold the extra things you want to carry. The trailer hitch I recommend is the Draw-TiteTrailer Hitch, part # 75717. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. I also recommend a cargo carrier like the Pro Series Hitch Cargo Carrier, part # 63153. This...

  • What Hitch, Wiring Harness, and Cargo Carrier do You Recommend for My 2022 Toyota RAV4?
For your 2022 Toyota RAV4, a great hitch that will give you the ability to haul a cargo carrier is the EcoHitch - 2" # EH97FR. Since this is a 2-inch hitch, it will be compatible with most cargo carriers with tail lights. The EcoHitch comes with a hidden crosstube which eliminates the eye-sore that comes with bulky visible crosstube fitments. The hitch is 100% made in the U.S.A. As far as the carrier itself, I recommend the 24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63153 along with the Light Kit # 20174....

Thanks for all those measurements! There is a trailer hitch that will work great for your travel trailer, though the measurement you want to go with is from outside to outside, which you said was 70-1/2 inches. That means the correct hitch is the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703. This is a little tricky as the Inno Shaper 100 Roof Cargo Basket # INXA569 doesn't have a specific cargo net made for it.
