Do you Have a Trailer Hitch Extension Recommendation for Added Ground Clearance?

Question:

Hi! We recently purchased this hitch and installed on my 2015 Kia Sportage. We have a 2-bike bike rack to put into the receiver, with an additional 2 bike extension, so that we can carry 4 bikes when needed. We are running into a clearance issue between the ground and rack when the extension is on for the additional 2 bikes when driving. Everything meets the weight specifications but a little extra room between the ground/rack would be nice. Do you have an adapter you would suggest? I know adapters reduce the tung weight by 50 and we are going to be getting a stabilizer strap as well. Any help/suggestions would be great.

To add extra height to the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75717, I recommend the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544. If you install the bike rack on the top receiver, it will give you an additional 7-1/2 inches of height for the ground clearance when you add on the 2-bike extension. With the extension, there is a 50% decrease in tongue weight. With the Draw-Tite Max E-Loader # 75717, the new tongue weight capacity will be 262 pounds.

If you need stabilizing straps, I recommend the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories # 18050. The Cam Buckle Strap is great because they provide extra support for your hitch receiver when you use a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. In addition, the cam buckle design allows for quick connection and release. The hooks on the Cam Buckle are vinyl coated to protect the finish on your Sportage.
