How Would the Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Hardwire to a Vehicle

Question:

I bought a Curt hitch and trailer wiring harness from you last year. I got the hitch installed and have been using it for a bike rack for the past year. This weekend I decided I might need to tow a small trailer so I should get the wiring installed. I followed the installation instructions but when I went to plug in the Curt adapter I noticed there wasnt a plug on it to correspond to the plug on the CRV. Not a big deal, I can just snip the wires and make the connections independently, but can you tell me which wires to connect the trailer wiring adapter to? All the colors on the car are different and I cant tell which wires I should be splicing into. Looks like the vehicle has a few extra wires that I wont need to touch. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

To hardwire the # C55106 that you referenced you would need to snip the connector off like you mentioned and then wire the converter by function to your vehicle. To determine the function of the wires on your 2007 Honda CR-V you would need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the wires. You can have a buddy sit in the driver seat of your vehicle and apply the various taillight functions as you probe the wiring.

Once you know the wiring functions you can then attach them to the # C55106. The green wire is the right turn signal, red is stop, yellow is left turn, brown is running lights, and white would be ground.
