What are the Functions of the Posts on the 12 Volt, 100 Amp Starter Solenoid  

Question:

the 2 larger terminals one is for positive side of battery one is for directly to starter. my 12 volt conversion also said to to wire new altenator to positive side of solenoid. the front terminal one wire should go to ignition ? the other is a ground?

The 2 larger terminals on either side of the solenoid # PK5230701 are 12 volt power in and out. Power in can come from the battery or alternator. The two smaller terminals are for ground and an ignition source (something that only has 12 volt power then the ignition is turned to the on position).

Pollak states to mount the solenoid in an enclosed area but DO NOT install in the engine compartment.
